Vintage Flower Press

I came across this old frame at Goodwill and loved the color and patina of the wood. I didn't know at the time what it was, but thought it would make a fun and unique frame for something. I later was told it is most likely an old flower press.

I went back and forth on whether to use it as an open frame or fill it with something. I decided to make it into another "clip" frame using foam board, burlap, and a metal clip.

Foam board is my secret weapon for making bulletin boards. It is so cheap, easy to cut, and fits perfectly into all the old frames. You can most often find it in the school supply section of any store.

I love how it turned out!
It adds a little bit of character to our kitchen wall and I can change out the photo whenever I want something new.

DIY Fragrance Diffuser

This is a little trick I discovered a few months ago. I had a store bought fragrance diffuser that had dried up and was ready to be thrown out. I decided to try my making my own oil fragrance with a few things I had on hand around the house.

You will need the following:

Oil, Vanilla Extract, wooden skewers, & decorative bottle.

105

Start by adding vanilla extract to the bottom of the glass bottle.

110

Next add your oil.

111

The final step is to insert the wooden skewers.

114

In less than a week you will have vanilla scent filling the space where you sat the diffuser.

Outdoors

When the weather is warm and sunny we are able to get outside and enjoy our big backyard. Our little guy just loves being outside moving and exploring. He is a lot to keep up with and keeps us moving too.

DIY Wedding: Guest Sign In

I am very blessed to be surrounded by loving, supportive and helpful friends and family. Last Sunday I was able to have a few of my bridesmaids over to help out with some wedding crafting and tasks. We worked on wrapping old jars with canvas burlap and lace, cutting out bunting flags and punching paper hearts. Later in the evening I was able to start assembling our guest sign-in. I wanted something creative and untraditional. After scouring Pinterest I came across this photo and decided to use it as my inspiration piece.

Please “pin” from the original {Source}.

Earlier in May I had purchased a 32 X 32 blank canvas from Hobby Lobby and cream canvas frabric from Walmart. I wrapped the canvas in the fabric and stapled it along the back. I then got to work laying out a pattern with the paper hearts.

A quarter of the way through the project I realized I needed more hearts so I decided to add a third color to the pattern.043049

I am in love with how it turned out! I can’t wait to have it displayed for all of friends and family. Our wedding countdown has begun…78 days
